YouTuber Murad Merali is under fire this week after a number of old posts resurfaced and went viral on Twitter.

As reported by The Tab, the 26-year-old is receiving backlash after some old posts appeared to show him fetishising black and Asian men.
In a new video, the social media star has taken accountability but denies posting any of the “derogatory comments” shown in the screenshots.
WHO IS MURAD MERALI?
Murad Merali is a clinical psychologist, cognitive neuroscientist, property investor and YouTuber from London.
The 26-year-old has 298,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel, Murad Merali, on which he posts reviews, reactions, lifestyle videos and discussions.
Although he shares videos about current news topics, most of his channel is dedicated to the British reality TV show Love Island. Throughout Love Island’s most recent season, he shared daily videos on what was going on in the show and even carried out interviews with some of the cast members.

He also recently posted his views on Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson’s breakup.
Merali has more than 69,000 followers on Instagram, hosts his own podcast and has a second YouTube channel.

MURAD MERALI APOLOGISES ON YOUTUBE
In a video posted on August 10, 2022, entitled Addressing My Past, the YouTuber tackled the backlash on social media.
Merali started with a trigger warning, telling people the content in the video was going to be “emotional” and added everything needed to be addressed with “immediate effect”.

“First and foremost, the written content is not me,” he said. “The derogatory comments are not written by me. I will stand by that, this is not who I am.
“Some of this content is also not me and I can profusely apologise and take full accountability for how this has come across and how everybody has felt.”
Merali went on to admit “some of the content” was written by him but added “not now, not recently” and he assured fans this isn’t who he is in 2022.
YOUTUBER SAYS ‘VILE’ LANGUAGE WAS NOT WRITTEN BY HIM:
Merali went on to say that while he was taking accountability for some of the content, many of the degrading captions were not written by him and had been fabricated.
Merali said people had created the upsetting pictures and captions for their own “satisfaction”. The 26-year-old said that needed to be made “abundantly clear” with “full force” and “immediately”.
“These screenshots associated with these pictures and this vile, racist verbiage that has been used is not written by me. This is not done by me,” he said. “I did not write this stuff.”
In the second half of the video, the YouTuber also opened up about how he was abused as a teenager and developed a “foot fetish” to make money and get out of that dark place.
“I need to be transparent. There needs to be transparency from me, that’s what everybody deserves,” he said.
