According to reports, an 18-year-old table tennis player from Tamil Nadu, Vishwa Deenadayalan, died in a road accident. The teenager was travelling to Shillong from Guwahati when the fatal accident occurred.
The Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) issued a statement in which they confirm the death of the young and talented player. The federation said that Vishwa met with a tragic accident while travelling to Shillong on Sunday, April 17, 2022.

Tamil Nadu Table Tennis Player Dies At 18 Cause Of Death:
To participate in the 83rd Senior National and Inter-State Table Tennis Championships, Vishwa Deenadayalan was reportedly traveling with three teammates from Guwahati to Shillong. The event was scheduled to start on Monday, April 18. However, the young player died before he could participate and showcase his talent. Apart from Vishwa, his other teammates including Ramesh Santosh Kumar, Kishore Kumar, and Abinash Prasannaji Srinivasan suffered severe injuries too.
How Did Vishwa Deenadayalan Die?
According to the statement released by TTFI, a 12-wheel trailer came from the opposite direction and plowed through the road divider, and hit the taxi at Shangbangla. The accident took place just after the Umliy check post. The taxi driver sadly died on the spot whereas the passengers were immediately transported to the hospital. However, the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences declared Vishwa brought dead.
In addition, the deceased teen boy along with his three teammates was taken to the hospital by the organizers with the help of the Meghalaya government. Following the death of Vishwa, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma took to Twitter to express his sadness. The CM wrote that he is saddened to learn that the Tamil Nadu paddler passed away after an accident in Ri Bhoi District. Conrad Sangma extended his deepest condolences to his family and asked the team to extend all assistance to complete the necessary formalities.
Besides, Meghlaya’s CM also condoled the death of the taxi driver in the accident. Dushyant Chautala, Harayana Deputy Chief Minister, also paid tribute to Vishwa and announced Rs 5 lakh as compensation for his family. The Tamil Nadu CM announced Rs 10 lakh relief for Vishwa’s parents as well. As a promising player with several ranked titles and international medals to his credit, Vishwa was set to represent India at the World Tennis Tour Youth Contender in Linz, Austria, starting April 27. Vishwa was trained by Ramnath Prasad and Jai Prabhu Ram.
