Daniel Lytle Dolan was born in the city of Detroit, Michigan, on May 28, 1951.

In 1965, he enrolled at the Archbishop’s Little Seminary in Detroit to study for the priesthood. Daniel then went on to Eckone, Switzerland, to study at the Cistercian Order and the Seminary of the Fraternity of Traditionalism of St. Pius X (SSPX). As a seminary student at Écône in 1973, he came to the conclusion that Pope Paul VI was the “sole logical explanation” for the new Mass and Vatican II’s purported heresy. He has retained the stance of Sedevacantism since then. SSPX Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre ordained Dolan a priest at the Écône on June 29, 1976.

Dolan returned to the United States in 1977, where he founded over 35 traditionalist mass centers. The liturgical books of 1962 are to be followed by the American SSPX priests, according to Lefebvre. Dolan and eight other priests from the United States rejected. These nine priests were dismissed from the SSPX on April 27, 1983, along with several sympathetic seminary students, for refusing to utilize the 1962 Mass and for other reasons, including disagreeing with Lefebvre’s instruction that SSPX priests accept defective orders.

The Diocesan Marriage Court’s decision disapproves of the SSPX’s strategy of admitting new members who would be admitted to the organization anyhow. Fathers Dolan and Anthony Cekada, left the SSPV, in 1989. The saddening piece of news has surfaced on the internet now and has saddened many of his well-wishers.
