MARVEL MOVIES IN ORDER: If you want to see the Marvel and Avengers movies in chronological order, beginning with the World War II-set Captain America: The First Avenger, we’ve listed all 33 MCU movies and series in one guide!
So, while Iron Man, set and released in 2008, can lay claim to being the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chris Evans has beaten Robert Downey Jr. within its story. This is due to the fact that Evans’ origin story as Captain America in The First Avenger takes place in 1942. There, we also get our first full introduction to the Tesseract, an energy cube that kickstarts the Infinity Saga, which culminates in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
The next film in the timeline is Captain Marvel, a blockbuster set in 1995 and starring Brie Larson as the cosmic Carol Danvers. Then it’s back to the beginning with Iron Man and RDJ’s ground-breaking performance as Tony Stark. After that, the films can be seen in chronological order, with the exception of 2021’s Black Widow, which takes place after Captain America: Civil War.
MARVEL MOVIES IN ORDER
Through the epic finale of Endgame (which essentially completed the first three phases of the MCU), there was a 5-year forward time jump, putting most everything in Phase 4 and on into the near future. Phase 4 began with Shang-Chi in the movies and has invited its lineup of series to do some heavy lifting, with Loki, Wandavision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Hawkeye pushing the story forward. Then there was the massive Spider-Man one-two punch of Far From Home and No Way Home. Moon Knight and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are the most recent. With all Marvel movies and series in chronological order, now is the time to catch up or experience the MCU in a new way.
