The news about the unfortunate demise of Eric was confirmed by the popular actor Reece Dinsdale. Reece Dinsdale took Twitter and posted and heartfelt post for Eric. Reece wrote “Thank you for everything you did for me, Sir… your scripts were a complete joy to play.
“Great times! My love & deepest sympathies to his friends and family.”

Eric was born in September of the year 1933, in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Eric was not always a television writer, he started his career as an auditor at the East Midlands Electricity board. He served there for around 22 years. While working in the East Midlands Electricity Board, Eric also wrote many novels and stories, all of which were rejected by the publishing houses. He went to many publishers with his novels but all of them denied. Later Eric decided to become a playwright and the rest is history.

Eric also won a Bafta award in the year 1978 for his writing of the super hit show Rising Damp. Rising damp starred popular actors Leonard Rossiter and Frances De la tour in the leading roles.
