The Kashmir Files Tax-Free In India States

On the same day of The Kashmir Files’ release (11 March), the Haryana Government has declared that the movie is tax-free in the state. An order was issued by the Excise and Taxation Department of Haryana on 11 March stating that the Haryana Government has allowed for the compensation of the state GST on entry to the exhibition of the film The Kashmir Files and theatres.

Directorate of Information, Public Relations, and Languages Department, Haryana (DPR Haryana) took their official Twitter to handle and shared this order stating, “The Haryana government has made the film ‘The Kashmir Files’ tax-free in the state.” In the order, it is mentioned that theatres will not charge the state GST from the customers, and the film tickets will be sold at their price following the deduction of the state GST amount. Apart from this, the theatres and multiplexes are also not allowed to increase the price of tickets.

It is also mentioned in the order that the order will remain in force for 6 months from the date of the order. The theatres are not allowed to make any changes in the seating capacity of different classes. The director of the film, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has shown his gratitude towards Haryana Government.

He tweeted, “Thank you very much Honorable ML Khattar Ji. After the financial problems of the corona period, this decision of yours will be of great help to the normal families to watch this film.
